Area Attractions
The inn's location has something for everyone. The city of Atlanta is just 35 minutes away. Atlanta is the hub of the south and has many great things including a new aquarium. The inn is located on Lake Allatoona Lake. The lake itself is over 30 miles long with 12,000 acres of water. It features nine marinas and is graced by Redtop Mountain State Park. The lake is fed by the Etowah and Coosa rivers. It's a great place to kayak. One can kayak from the lake's dam all the way to the city of Rome. The river is for the most part is a floating experience with a few class 1 rapids. The ancient Etowah Indian Mounds and museum are 15 minutes away. Several state of the art golf courses including Barnsley Gardens are within 20 minutes of the inn. Cobblestone Golf in Acworth is less than 10 minutes away and is one of the top 25 golf courses in the nation. Acworth also features a smalltown atmosphere with big town dining and shopping. The city of Marietta is 15 miles away and known for it's antique shops, square, and White Water Park. Of course, for Civil War buffs there is the battlefield. There is also a pre-civil war private home next door that served as a hospital during the battle. There are many other battlefields in the neighboring towns of Kennesaw, Dallas, and Resaca. Kennesaw is also the home of the Little General which is housed in the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive history. The little town of Cartersville is also very close and has great antique shopping, art gallerys and good cooking. The world's first outdoor coca-cola sign is still there. Come and enjoy the south.
